In December 2020, Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. was awarded an estimated $54 million contract from the U.S. Navy. The task order required the contractor to design and construct a mess hall and a warehouse at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California.

The work included building a dining facility and a supply warehouse and demolishing nine buildings. Other tasks included cybersecurity features, gutters, sidewalks, roadways, landscaping, and enclosures. The contract is expected to finish by February 2025.

In April 2023, Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. was awarded a significant contract valued at $41 million by the U.S. Navy. The scope of work for this contract included the construction of a state-of-the-art single-story P282 Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS) Flight Simulator Facility. Another part of the job order includes demolishing Building 3005 at the Naval Air Station in Whiting Field, Milton, Florida.

The new and modern facility will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, featuring high-fidelity simulators, mixed reality simulators, and smart classroom technology. It is designed to provide the Navy’s newest aviators with a modern and immersive learning environment for their training in the TH-73A aircraft.

The task order includes an unexercised option that can potentially increase the contract value to $43.2 million. The expected completion date is by April 2027.

In May 2018, Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. proudly stood among the select group of eight companies awarded the esteemed U.S. Navy contract with a ceiling value of $750 million. The task order entailed constructing, renovating, and repairing institutional and commercial buildings across various government installations, spanning states such as California, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.

The scope of projects included a wide range of essential facilities, including administration buildings, academic and applied instruction training facilities, dining facilities, laboratories, maintenance/repair facilities, military operations facilities, aircraft hangars, office buildings, and fire stations.

The expected completion date was on April 2023.

In March 2021, Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. was selected to undertake a significant contract with an estimated value of $8.5 million by the U.S. Army. This endeavor required replacing the cooling water system in Building 633, situated within the esteemed Philadelphia Naval Business Center in Pennsylvania. The project’s primary objective was to replace the river water cooling system with a new 8,200 gallons per minute (GPM) cooling tower, serving as a cooling water source.

This tower was designed to efficiently reject heat, boasting an impressive capacity of up to 75 million British thermal units per hour (MMBH). The new system meets the demanding cooling water requirements and ensures reliable performance while significantly reducing environmental impact.

5. U.S. Navy’s Fire Crash Rescue Station Construction Contract

The temporary French Creek facility will be demolished after the project’s completion by October 2023.
