Air Force Digital, C3I&N Directorates Show Support for Frank Kendall’s Operational Imperatives

The operational imperatives of Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall have been getting a lot of support from the Digital and Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, and Networks Directorates because they can help maintain the competitiveness of the Air Force and Space Force. The seven OIs are critical in modernizing and improving the operational posture of U.S. airmen and guardians and will ensure they have the resources to deter competitors when they are deployed, the Air Force Materiel Command said.

Hanscom’s Digital and C3I&N Directorates play critical roles in the implementation of the OIs. Steven Wert, program executive officer for digital and a past Potomac Officers Club event speaker, was designated co-lead for OI-3, Moving Target Engagement, and tasked to identify current Air Force capabilities that could engage and deter targets in a highly-contested fight. C3I&N Program Executive Officer Maj. Gen. Anthony Genatempo said his organization is bolstering its information technology and cyber capabilities as part of a commitment to Kendall’s OIs.
