AIS Names Former NGA Director Letitia Long to Board of Directors

Applied Information Sciences has appointed former National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Director Letitia Long, a two-time Wash100 awardee, to its board of directors.

Long brings into her new role decades worth' of federal expertise and leadership experience in the defense and national intelligence community, AIS said Tuesday

“Her industry and board experience will foster our continued growth in the Federal IT market and support the delivery of mission-critical cloud solutions to better serve our defense and intelligence customers," said AIS President and CEO Larry Katzman, a Potomac Officers Club member.

Long began her federal career with the Navy and has since served as deputy director of naval intelligence and as the Defense Intelligence Agency's first chief information officer.

As the fifth director of the NGA, Long led major cloud computing initiatives that helped enable advanced and dynamic capabilities for creating and collecting geospatial intelligence, AIS said.

She currently serves as the chairman of the board for the Intelligence and National Security Alliance, a nonprofit professional organization for public and private-sector members of the Intelligence Community.

Long has served on the board of directors of Raytheon, Sonatype, the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University's School of Public and International Affairs and the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation.

“I am excited to join the AIS board and work with Larry and the team on scaling the company’s support to the Defense and Intelligence markets, specifically around their Azure cloud enterprise solution," Long said.

She earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from The Catholic University of America.
