Alion Names Chris Bishop as Chief Growth Officer
Alion Science and Technology has announced the appointment of seasoned business developer Chris Bishop, a Potomac Officers Club member, to the role of chief growth officer. He is now responsible for strategic initiatives and business development functions across the company.
Chairman and CEO Steve Schorer, a 2018 Wash100 winner, said Bishop's extensive experience in command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, cross-domain and cyber capabilities will greatly contribute to Alion's market growth.Â
"He is a forward thinker and his strategies for driving business success will be significant as Alion continues its momentum achieving new contract wins and maintaining its commitment to excellence,” Schorer said.
Bishop said he is impressed with the market strength and business success Alion has demonstrated over the past years.
“The company has transformed into an industry force in the defense and intelligence marketplace, and I look forward to being part of this exceptional leadership team and Alion’s continued growth,” he said.
Bishop most recently served as chief growth and strategy officer at Pyramid Systems, a high-end information technology solutions company. He was also the senior vice president of growth for ManTech's mission solutions and service group.
Prior to ManTech, he spent two years as VP of marketing and business development at URS, where he was responsible for business development, capture management, contract management, marketing and communications and proposal development.
In March 2007, he joined NCI Information Systems as senior VP of marketing and sales. He was later promoted to executive VP of corporate strategy and development.
Bishop spent nearly 12 years working at SRA as VP and deputy director of marketing and sales. In the said role, he actively managed a multi-billion-dollar pipeline and the reporting forecasts for lines of business.
He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Virginia and a master of business administration degree from Marymount University.
