American Systems Promotes Babak Nouri to Corporate Development VP

American Systems, a Chantilly, Virginia-based government services contractor, has promoted Babak Nouri to vice president of corporate development from his former position as account management director.

Nouri replaces John Steckel, a 4×24 member, who was appointed as the company’s president and CEO in September 2023. Nouri’s role as VP of corporate development includes heading the company’s merger and acquisition team and directing legislative affairs projects, American Systems said.

As account management director, Nouri organized and led a team that achieved record contract awards during the past five years, the company noted.

Steckel said Nouri was a “natural choice” for the position, with more than 20 years of industry experience and government contracting know-how.

Nouri joined American Systems in 2018 after stints in several companies, including Peraton and SAIC. According to his LinkedIn profile, he also previously worked with  Perspecta as director of enterprise capture management. His academic degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Maryland.
