Applied Energetics Names Chris Donaghey Chief Financial and Operating Officer

Laser technology maker Applied Energetics has appointed Chris Donaghey, a member of the Potomac Officers Club, to the roles of chief financial officer and chief operating officer.

Starting on Aug. 1, he will be responsible for financial strategy, long-range business planning, investor relations, audits and other tasks, Applied Energetics said Monday.

President and CEO Gregory Quarles said Donaghey’s expertise in financial management and long-term strategic planning makes him qualified for his new roles.

“He also brings a wealth of insight and expertise about our industry and customers as we chart the course ahead for success,” Quarles added.

According to Executive Chairman Brad Adamczyk, Donaghey’s transition comes at an ideal time due to Applied Energetics’ recent contract wins.

In a June release, the company announced that it had secured a $172,000 Phase I Small Business Technology Transfer contract with the U.S. Army, focused on developing ultra-broadband infrared technology.

Donaghey most recently served as senior vice president and head of corporate development at Science Applications International Corporation, where he worked on mergers and acquisitions and strategic venture strategies.

Prior to SAIC, he was VP of corporate strategy and development at national security solutions provider KeyW. His duties covered overall corporate strategy and capital markets activities.

Donaghey was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve’s intelligence program and a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, according to his LinkedIn profile.
