Arcfield Completes Acquisition of Orion Space Systems

Chantilly, Virginia-based Arcfield announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Orion Space Systems.

The acquisition grows internal design and integration expertise to enhance space exploration and hypersonic detection and tracking offerings for the Department of Defense and the intelligence community, Arcfield said.

To support national security and environmental monitoring goals, Orion provides small satellite design and integration services and develops sensors and data products for the space and ground domains.

Orion CEO Geoff Crowley, a 4×24 member, said Arcfield’s systems engineering, integration and mission launch assurance services complement those of his company. He added that their combined offerings will lead to “cutting-edge space-based technologies for our customers.”

Arcfield has added Crowley to its executive leadership team as chief scientist, tasking him with leading space research and development. Meanwhile, Chad Fish has been designated as Orion’s president and general manager.

Fish formerly served as Orion’s chief operating officer. In September, he took the lead of a new space quantum innovation consortium founded by Orion.
