Who is Dr. Eric Moore?
Eric Moore, Ph.D. is acclaimed for his contributions to the chemical and biological weapons development in the defense sector. He also delves into medical countermeasures, further boosting his credibility in the field. Through these industry-leading contributions, Dr. Moore was named a member of the Senior Executive Service in 2016.
Dr. Moore earned his bachelor’s in biology from Fisk University in 1987. That same year, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the U.S. Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at Vanderbilt University. In 1992, Dr. Moore completed his doctorate in neurophysiology from Meharry Medical College.
Moreover, Dr. Moore completed a number of courses to boost his qualifications as an Army officer. He completed the following courses throughout the years:
- Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Officer Basic Course
- AMEDD Officer Advanced Course
- Combined Arms and Services Staff School
- Army Command & General Staff College.
Dr. Eric Moore’s civilian and military career
Dr. Eric Moore culminated his career as an Army Officer at the Armed Forces Medical Intelligence Center. He served as the Senior Scientific and Technical Intelligence Officer for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear medical countermeasures worldwide. This kickstarted his professional journey, specializing in various scientific portfolios.
Other assignments he held while in the military include
- Commander/ Lab Director at the U.S. Army Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory
- Principal investigator at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense
- Chief of the Advanced and Emerging Threat Division at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency
- Chief of the Basic and Supporting Science Division at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency
- Director at the DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center (CBC)
- Director for Research and Technology Directorate at DEVCOM CBC (formerly Edgewood Chemical Biological Center)
In October 2022, Dr. Moore was promoted to Deputy to the Commanding General at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. He provides strategic direction, particularly related to research, development, and engineering, serving more than 14,000 personnel.
