In July 2014, the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Medical team awarded AmerisourceBergen an estimated $29 billion contract.
The next-generation prime pharmaceutical vendor contract supported the Defense Health Agency’s mail-order pharmacy program and improved customer access to medications that were previously difficult to acquire. This was done by expanding the products’ availability to specialty pharmaceuticals.
To date, this is one of the largest single contracts issued by DHA that took more than a year to finalize in terms of requirement, regulation, policy, and acquisition, ensuring award at the most favorable price.

In September 2022, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) awarded an estimated $20 million contract to AmerisourceBergen.
AmerisourceBergen will grow its distribution capacity and support jurisdictional needs. This will be done by increasing distribution sites and weekly deliveries of up to 2,500 shipments weekly of frozen JYNNEOS vaccine and ambient temperature shipments TPOXX distribution. These serve as countermeasures for the prevalence of monkeypox infection in the most affected communities.
