1. AFICC Awarded $14 Billion for ACES IDIQ to Akima’s Subsidiary and Six Federal Contractors

Akima Logistics Services, an Akima subsidiary, was one of six federal contractors to win a $14 billion multiple-award IDIQ contract for Aircraft Maintenance Enterprise Solution (ACES). ACES was procured as an agency-wide strategic sourcing vehicle for aircraft maintenance for the Air Force, with work overseen by the Air Force Installation Contracting Center.

 

The scope of the ACES IDIQ encompassed organizational-level maintenance services for all aircraft covered by each order. It may include rotary wings, tiltrotor, and remotely piloted aircraft. The federal contractors were determined to conduct operations across various government facilities through the estimated completion date of September 2031.

 

2. COMFRC Worked With 42 Contractors to Perform Various Operations Under KRACEn Multi-Award Contract

Together with 42 other federal contractors, Akima Logistics Services, secured a multiple-award IDIQ contract for Kits, Recovery, Augmentation, Components, and Engines (KRACEn) in support of the United States Navy. The Commander Fleet Readiness Center Procurement Group awarded the KRACEn IDIQ amounting to $6.1 billion to conduct various work components through April 2030.

 

Work performances under KRACEn IDIQ included building and modifying kits, recovering downed aircraft, repairing aircraft components, overhauling aircraft engines, and augmenting labor supplements. Additional work elements encompassed organizational-level logistics support requirements for the Navy Fleet Readiness Centers.

 

Winning this KRACEn multi-award contract opened opportunities for Akima to secure other multi-billion dollar government contracts from the federal government. A few months after this contract was awarded, the company secured ACES IDIQ, further amplifying its position as a prime government contractor for various government affairs and defense furniture.

 

3. ACC Tasked Five Contractors for the Upkeep of Military Assets, Ensuring their Top Condition for Mission Operations

The United States Army Contracting Command awarded 22 government contractors, including Akima’s subsidiary Akima Support Operations, to repair, overhaul, and upkeep machines, vehicles, and other military assets for various systems engineering projects. Under the five-year hybrid $910 million contract award, work operations started on July 7, 2020, through the estimated completion date of July 7, 2027. The contractors were finalized through online solicitation, with work locations and funding set depending on each task order.

 

4. AFICC Secured an IDIQ With Five Federal Contractors to Conduct Comprehensive Maintenance for Air Force Products

Akima Logistics Services and four other companies were awarded the Rotary Wing Maintenance Contract Consolidation IDIQ. Under the ten-year contract with a cumulative value of $835 million, the scope of work covered aircraft support and aviation maintenance services for various United States Air Force divisions.

 

Additionally, work performances included a wide range of helicopter maintenance operations and training mission support solutions for the Air Force Global Strike Command, Pacific Air Forces, Air Education and Training Command, and Air Force District of Washington.

 

Some of the helicopters and aircraft covered by the contract were:

  • UH-1N helicopters
  • HH-60 helicopters
  • MH-139 helicopters
  • V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft

Other relevant work elements comprised organizational maintenance, certain maintenance work for aircraft, equipment, and weapons, and 24/7 supply services. Locations for the contract performance commenced in Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Washington, New Mexico, and Japan. The Air Force Installation Contracting Center served as the contracting activity of the Rotary Wing Maintenance Contract Consolidation IDIQ.

 

5. USACE Sealed a Deal to Provide a Wide Range of Construction Services for Several Projects of the Federal Government

  • Contract type: Indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple award contract
  • Value: $499 million
  • Contract date: March 30, 2017

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers assigned Akima’s subsidiary, Akima Construction Services, and eight other federal contractors to perform a full spectrum of services for construction projects along the Baltimore-Washington corridor. The $449 million contract involves design-build and design-bid-build construction services.

 

Although the project primarily supported the Baltimore-Washington corridor, these construction services were also contracted for possible use in several projects across the continental U.S. and Hawaii. Work locations and funding were determined per each task order through the estimated completion date of March 29, 2022.

 

6. AFLCMC Finalized a Contract Award to Manage the Maintenance of C-21 Aircraft Fleet

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center awarded Akima Logistics Services a $385 million IDIQ to provide various logistics support services for the C-21 aircraft fleet. Other related solutions for the contract include program management, aircraft base, depot maintenance, engine maintenance, modifications and modification support, and deployment support.

 

Work occurred in different Air Force domestic installations based in Illinois and Maryland and global facilities, including Germany. As the contracting activity, the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center secured the funding from the fiscal 2020 operations and maintenance funds, with an initial obligation of $1.9 million. The ten-year contract was set for completion by August 31, 2030.

 

With several years of dedicated work in the United States Air Force, Akima has met the agency’s requirements for this contract. This, along with their logistics support experience for the U.S. Air Force Academy and USAF Special Aircraft Mission fleet at Andrews Air Force Base, expanded its knowledge base in providing the best services for the Air Force.

 

7. USAF Contracted Federal Contractors to Build New Facilities and Restore Existing Infrastructure

  • Contract type: Multi-award, firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract
  • Value: $330 million
  • Contract date: December 6, 2016

In December 2016, the 772nd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron awarded a $330 million multi-award IDIQ contract to Akima Construction Services and 11 contractors. The contract outlined work for a range of construction services, including design, construction, engineering, and technologies support activities, for building new facilities and repairing, restoring, and renovating existing infrastructure.

 

Work commenced in key locations along the East Region of the United States, encompassing 26 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The contract award was finalized through a competitive acquisition, with an expected completion date of December 7, 2021. Funding was obligated depending on each delivery order.

 

On the same day, Akima Construction Services and ten other contractors were awarded by the 772nd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron. Under the five-year $300 million firm-fixed-price IDIQ award, the contractors worked on the contract in the Central Region, including 15 states. The contractors were set to finish work by December 7, 2021, with funds obligated on each delivery order.
