Attain Appoints Homeland Security Veteran John Mandell as Managing Director

Attain, a technology and strategy consulting firm, has appointed homeland security market veteran John Mandell as a managing director.

Mandell will be responsible for leading and growing Attain's national security practice, with a focus on the Department of Homeland Security, the company announced Tuesday.

"We are proud to welcome John to Attain. We look forward to his leadership as we continue to bring change and transformation to help secure our nation from the many threats it faces," said Manish Agarwal, attain's president and chief operating officer.

As a technology consulting executive, Mandell brings into his new role over a decade of experience in the national security and DHS sector.

Attain said he has done business with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Patrol and other agencies.

Mandell is credited with having successfully secured contract vehicles worth up to $1B and with introducing emerging technologies to his clients' missions.

He specializes in digital transformation projects such as DevSecOps practices, cloud, advanced analytics, process improvement and information technology services, according to Attain.

"I am excited to join Attain, a next-generation firm known for driving innovation, emerging technologies, and impact to the public sector. Attain has strong momentum, delivering digital solutions—and beyond—to our National Security clients, and I'm pleased to be a part of the team," Mandell said.

Before joining Attain, Mandell served as the director for public-sector affairs at Guidehouse, formerly known as PricewaterhouseCoopers. He was also a member of the Grant Thornton Global Public Sector team and the BearingPoint Oracle practice.
