BAE I&S President Al Whitmore Bags Third Wash100 Award
Al Whitmore, president of BAE Systems' intelligence and security business, has bagged his third consecutive Wash100 award from Executive Mosaic.
The award, presented by Executive Mosaic founder and CEO Jim Garrettson, recognizes Whitmore's contributions to BAE's business successes in 2019, GovConWire reported.
Whitmore, a Potomac Officers Club member, leads a unit with about 6.3K employees who specialize in providing systems engineering, integration and sustainment services for the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and other federal agencies.
Under his leadership, the I&S business unit secured major contracts and made significant advancements in emerging technologies.
Whitemore guided BAE as it evolved its capabilities in the areas of cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, enterprise information technology modernization, data analytics and systems integration.
In October 2019, BAE won a $437M Army task order to provide data-based open-source support for the service's I&S command, among many other contracts.
BAE partnered with UiPath in August 2019 to establish a robotics operations center to help U.S. defense and intelligence agencies process large volumes of data.
Before he joined BAE, Whitemore spent more than three decades at General Dynamics, where he led an organization focused on providing IT solutions and professional services to DoD, state and local and commercial customers.
Wash100 is an annual selection of the most influential personalities in government contracting. The award honors executives and government officials who have demonstrated skills in leadership, innovation, reliability, achievement and vision in the sector.
The recipients of the award are determined through nominations from the government contracting community and the discretion of the Executive Mosaic team.
