BAE Systems, Partners to Deliver Improved Synthetic Training Solutions for Military Use

BAE Systems has announced a strategic collaboration with Red Hat and The Weather Co. to enhance weather data integration into synthetic training environments for military use cases.

The collaboration aims to deliver new offerings built on Red Hat’s OpenShift platform and The Weather Co.’s integration of weather data into Department of Defense frameworks, BAE said.

BAE and Red Hat are presenting the solutions at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference in Orlando, Florida, until Nov. 30. Other offerings on display include constructive simulation environments and digital twins of the Earth.

Peder Jungck, vice president and general manager for intelligence solutions at BAE and a 4×24 member, said incorporating weather data is key to attaining a strategic advantage in simulated military operations.

He added that BAE can more rapidly scale and accommodate client requirements with OpenShift.

BAE said its Kubernetes open-source automation platform has migrated into OpenShift to ensure the speedy delivery of capabilities and a smooth migration to government cloud environments.
