BAE to Suppport Navy’s Development of UAS Under $94M Contract
The Navy has awarded BAE Systems a $94M contact to provide advanced technology that can help develop various unmanned aerial systems.
BAE will provide engineering, test and evaluation support for sensors as well as communication, control and weapons systems for various manned and unmanned airborne platforms.
“Our state-of-the-art digital engineering capabilities, and extensive experience in integrating airborne systems are further strengthening the warfighter’s ability to meet mission requirements and ensuring combat readiness in the field," said Mark Keeler, vice president and general manager of BAE's integrated defense solutions business.
Keeler said BAE will provide advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and autonomy to the airborne systems integration division.
The contract was awarded by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division's Webster Outlying Field, a military airport located west of St. Inigoes, Maryland.
BAE said the award recognizes its investments in the development of model-based systems engineering capabilities.
To fulfill the terms of the contract, BAE will use tools like digital engineering to enable full design traceability for requirements, improved collaboration and a digital repository for the airborne systems integrated division.
The company's ADAMS architecture was designed to provide a digital environment for systems engineering across multidisciplinary, multi-organization teams and stakeholders.
BAE was recently awarded multiple contracts from the Army for the development of the Future Vertical Lift Initiative project. Under the deal, BAE will develop technologies for the Advanced Teaming Demonstration Project.
BAE is a multinational defense, security and aerospace company specializing in combat systems, aeronautics, ship repair, avionics, navigation, information technology, aircraft manufacturing and engineering.
