BlueHalo Develops New Missile for Shooting Down Group 3 Drones

BlueHalo has introduced a new counter-unmanned aerial systems missile designed to defeat large air threats, including Group 3 drones.

The next-generation missile will “deliver unmatched protection to our warfighters and ease of integration to truly transform our nation’s air defense systems against the ever-evolving peer threat,” said Jonathan Moneymaker, BlueHalo CEO and a 4×24 member.

The NGM is compatible with existing infrastructure and command and control systems, allowing for a faster production cycle and weapon transition to warfighters, BlueHalo said

It has a modular architecture with a software-defined front end to pair it with other rocket motors and achieve increased range and maneuverability against subsonic and supersonic weapons. The NGM was also built with the capability to defeat short-range air defense threats.

According to a Defense Daily report, the weapon, unveiled at the ongoing AUSA 2023 expo, was developed for the U.S. Army Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office’s Long Range Kinetic Interceptor prototype effort.

The NGM “demonstrates our Company’s commitment to the DOD priorities as outlined by Deputy Secretary Hicks,” Moneymaker said.

The BlueHalo CEO is a 2022 Wash100 awardee.
