BlueHalo Partners With University of Maryland for Communications and Autonomy R&D, Talent Support

Aerospace and cyber defense manufacturer BlueHalo has teamed up with the University of Maryland’s Matrix Lab and Unmanned Aerial System Research and Operations Center to advance long-range communications and autonomous technologies. According to BlueHalo CEO Jonathan Moneymaker, a 4×24 member and Wash100 awardee, UMD resources will also be used to strengthen national security and build a talent pipeline for his company.

On behalf of her organization, Reza Ghodssi, executive director of research and innovation at the Matrix Lab, expressed excitement regarding the partnership and eagerness regarding the chance to create new opportunities and solutions for stakeholders.

BlueHalo aims to secure access to skilled personnel in Maryland through internships, scholarships and other programs for students with support from partners such as the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division and Naval Surface Warfare Centers.

In-house engineers and scientists are expected to collaborate with UMD students and faculty members on various research and development efforts utilizing Matrix Lab facilities, BlueHalo said Thursday.

On the acquisition of Verus Technology Group in April, Moneymaker said the move positions his company as the leading provider in the counter-UAS market segment. BlueHalo plans to integrate Verus’ SkyView offering with the Titan c-UAS system.
