Brian McHugh, Senior Vice President for External Affairs at ManTech
Brian McHugh is the senior vice president of external affairs at ManTech, which provides advanced mission-focused technology solutions and services to intelligence, federal civilian and defense agencies. At the same time, he serves as chief of staff to ManTech President and CEO Matt Tait.
He joined ManTech in 2013, bringing his years of experience serving the intelligence community and his foreign policy experience, which he used to develop and implement national security programs at the company.
McHugh played a key role in shaping and executing the 2020 strategic planning goals and special programs, program development and risk management efforts, ManTech said.
His responsibilities also include providing advice to ManTech’s board of directors and executive management team on risk mitigations for worldwide operations.
Prior to ManTech, McHugh served the CIA and National Security Agency for almost three decades. He was chief of station in various Middle Eastern and East European locations and managed several multimillion-dollar and multiagency programs focused on combating international terrorism, weapons proliferation, counterintelligence and cyber threats directed at the U.S.
The executive also held the associate executive assistant director role at the FBI’s National Security Branch. In the said position, he was responsible for overseeing domestic and international operations focused on counterterrorism, counterintelligence, weapons of mass destruction and cybersecurity.
McHugh holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and Soviet and East European studies from the University of Illinois and graduate certificates from the University of Ankara, the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, George Washington University and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.
