C3 AI to Support MDA’s Enterprise AI Development via OTA
C3 AI has been awarded a production other transaction agreement to support the Missile Defense Agency’s development of enterprise artificial intelligence.
OTAs serve as a vehicle for the Department of Defense to acquire research and development support without being subject to many of the laws and regulations governing federal contracts, according to a Mitre primer.
The new production OTA specifically supports modeling and simulation initiatives that take advantage of AI-based and physics-driven validation methodologies, C3 AI said Monday.
“By using the C3 AI Suite and the C3 AI Generative Modeling application, Missile Defense Agency personnel can rapidly generate large datasets in data-starved environments for a broad spectrum of missile defense technology initiatives,” said Ed Abbo, president and chief technology officer at C3 AI.
C3 AI Suite is a model-based enterprise AI platform designed to help organizations develop, deploy and operate AI applications.
The company said it was previously awarded a prototype OT to demonstrate C3 AI Suite’s ability to develop a generative modeling application for hypersonic missile trajectories.
C3 AI said its Generative Modeling application will allow MDA to generate tens of thousands of physically realistic AI-generated trajectories within minutes.
The technology can function even when given a small set of training data and physical rules, the company added.
C3 AI claimed that Generative Modeling will increase the agency’s modeling and simulation capacity and speed by up to a hundred times.
MDA is a Department of Defense component tasked with creating a layered defense against ballistic missiles for the United States and its allies.
