Tim Boltz: Cybersecurity, AI Brings Benefits to Education Sector

A Carahsoft sales director said the education sector must have a strong cybersecurity base to get the most out of digital services.

Tim Boltz, education market program executive at Carahsoft and a 4×24 member, shared that having a strong cybersecurity base allows universities to take advantage of external data, improve internal performance and make the appropriate education-related decisions. External data, he explained, allows educational institutes to identify popular demands for majors, employment opportunities and competitor information when used with predictive analysis.

Artificial intelligence helps educational institutions protect sensitive information, prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data, improve student retention, assess student performance and facilitate customized learning experiences, Boltz wrote in an article Carahsoft published.

Boltz previously highlighted the importance of cybersecurity for the education sector, focusing on the role IT staff need to uphold.

In another article published by Carahsoft in December, Boltz suggested that IT staff should constantly monitor the current cybersecurity state of the education sector and ensure that technology manufacturers create secure-by-design products. He also reiterated the importance of schools taking up AI and machine learning cyber analytics to detect and stop threats early.
