CGI Federal Finishes Testing Connectivity Solution for US Marine Corps Logistics

Information technology and business consulting firm CGI Federal has concluded a test of Microsoft Azure Orbital Cloud Access and Nokia private 5G capabilities in Marine Corps Platform Integration Center systems at Blount Island Command, Florida.

MCPIC is a supply chain management program that uses digital tagging, automation and internet of things sensor technology. CGI Federal secured a task order in 2022 to scale the system to eight U.S. Marine Corps bases.

The company is also responsible for developing and maintaining MCPIC.

Col. John Sattely, BIC’s commanding officer, noted that the demonstrated communications technologies prove that MCPIC is fit for future Department of Defense networks.

According to Wes Anderson, Microsoft Federal’s vice president for defense, his organization’s partnership with CGI Federal is enabling USMC forces to operate anywhere. A 4×24 member and 2023 Wash100 winner, he added that mission success hinges on “secure, consistent and ubiquitous connectivity.”

Azure Orbital Cloud Access is meant to provide responsive cloud access all over Earth, CGI Federal said.
