Cloud Experts: Government Tech Shifting to Data Reliance

Government technologies are changing and starting to revolve around data, according to cloud service veterans who spoke during a webinar. Nathan McGuirt, a senior solutions architect at Amazon Web Services, said the modern challenge involves identifying valuable data from the silos of others. He said there is not as much effort in maintaining data integrity and availability as there is in protecting confidentiality. McGuirt added that customers are now preferring more flexible data lake structures for better availability and scalability, MeriTalk reported. Identifying and sorting data to be more useful can only be done by knowing one's stakeholders, he added. McGuirt revealed that he uses Stella, a tool used by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to measure the progress in ending homelessness.
