Defense Intelligence Agency Awards Northrop Grumman $700M Neptune Phoenix Contract

Defense and aerospace technology company Northrop Grumman has announced a potential nine-year, $700 million Defense Intelligence Agency contract to create an integrated cloud and sensor solution to accelerate information delivery to warfighters.

Work under the Neptune Phoenix deal will include utilizing model-based systems engineering to consolidate the DIA’s technical capabilities and applying digital engineering to streamline operations and reduce costs, Northrop said.

The company is also expected to provide lifecycle management, design, prototyping, deployment and data analysis support for radio frequency and electro-optical sensors.

Jennifer Walsmith, Northrop’s vice president of cyber and information solutions and a past Potomac Officers Club event speaker, said her company is changing the intelligence community’s digital ecosystem to accelerate the delivery of actionable information to counter threats.

Northrop recently demonstrated a deep sensing and targeting platform at a U.S. Army exercise. Installed on a CRJ-700 plane, the solution is intended to facilitate intelligence gathering beyond visual line of sight.
