DISA Updating Strategy to Improve Data Analysis Using Generative AI
The Defense Information Systems Agency is developing a new version of its data strategy to guide the adoption of artificial intelligence for improving data analysis and decision making.
In an interview with Federal News Network, Steve Wallace, the director of emerging technology and chief technology officer at DISA, said the new strategy for 2025-2027 covers the use of the Concierge AI tool to address data analysis challenges.
Concierge AI, which provides generative AI applications, is currently in the initial pilot phase, under which users are exploring the tool’s capabilities in an Impact Level 5 cloud environment, Federal News Network reported.
According to Wallace, the agency’s digital workforce will start experimenting with the AI tool in the coming months, including ingesting a large document set, to better understand how data can be secured in large language model environments and enable expanding its deployment.
Wallace also discussed other DISA initiatives, including the development of quantum-resistant cryptography public key infrastructure.
In 2023, DISA awarded a contract to Sandbox AQ to build a prototype of such an infrastructure to prepare for the emergence of quantum computers that can crack existing encryption methods.
On Thursday, join the Potomac Officers Club’s 5th Annual AI Summit, where federal leaders and industry experts converge to explore the transformative power of artificial intelligence.
