DOD Tackles Industry Collaboration in First GIDE Industry Insights Forum
The Department of Defense’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office recently hosted the first Global Information Dominance Experiments Industry Insights Forum, aimed at fostering collaboration with the private industry.
The event featured plenary sessions and networking opportunities for industry experts to address the Pentagon’s digital challenges, Defense .gov reported Tuesday.
The primary focus of the forum was the lessons learned from past GIDE iterations, particularly in the realm of Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control development.
Radha Plumb, the chief digital and artificial intelligence officer and a past Potomac Officers Club event speaker, emphasized the importance of the forum for promoting innovation and integrating the best industry solutions to support military operations.
Meanwhile, Bonnie Evangelista, acting deputy CDAO for acquisitions, highlighted the forum’s role in incorporating innovation from academia and businesses into the DOD’s AI capabilities.
The GIDE Forum also touched on the new Open Data and Applications Government-owned Interoperable Repositories program.
According to the DOD, the Open DAGIR program is designed to create a collaborative ecosystem where industry and government can jointly develop data platforms, tools and applications, while safeguarding government data ownership and industry intellectual property.
Future events are also planned to enhance industry engagement and refine the Open DAGIR program.
