DoD Wants Proposals for Mid-Band Spectrum Sharing Prototype

The Department of Defense is seeking proposals for a prototype that would facilitate mid-band spectrum sharing between the military and private companies. The request for prototype proposal is aimed at fielding a dynamic spectrum sharing testbed, as well as enhancement and applications, at Hill Air Force Base and the Test and Training Range in Utah.

According to Joseph Dyer, chief strategy officer of the National Spectrum Consortium, the spectrum sharing technology will fulfill market needs while protecting and enhancing future military capabilities, MeriTalk reported Thursday.

The RFP is the fourth notice on 5G wireless technology development released by the DoD.

Interested sources have until May 15 to submit full prototype proposals.
