Elbit System Subsidiary Secures $442M OTA Contract to Supply Army Night-Vision Tech
Elbit Systems America has secured a $442M other transaction authority contract for Enhanced Night Vision Goggle – Binoculars from the U.S. Army.
The agreement calls for Elbit to produce the binocular night-vision devices by December 2021. Work will take place in Roanoke, Virginia.
Under the OTA, the company received an initial $22.5M order to start low-rate initial production of the goggles. The system is meant to automate the transfer of data and images to soldiers for mobility, protection and target acquisition. The technology will go through field trials and system testing as part of the qualification phases.
Bezhalel Machlis, Elbit Systems president and CEO, said the contract award shows the substantial potential of the company’s night-vision technology.
"The selection of the ENVG-B systems by the U.S Army is a testament to the quality of Elbit Systems of America's technologies and their unique operational contribution,” he said.
Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, Elbit Systems of America was founded in 1983. It specializes in defense electronics, homeland security, commercial aviation, medical instrumentation and unmanned aircraft systems.
Earlier in October, the company received from the Defense Logistics Agency a potential five-year, $50M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to manufacture spare parts for the Aviators' Night Vision Imaging System/Head-Up Display system.
The platform is a display that connects to the helmets of Army helicopter pilots, providing information in front of the user’s eyes, including speed, heading and altitude. The system allows the pilot to look out of the moving aircraft while viewing relevant data from various sensors.
In August, the organization landed a potential, five-year $79M IDIQ contract from the DLA to provide the Army with gunner hand stations, command hand stations and circuit cards for the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle transaction.
