Exiger, MetalMiner Awarded DARPA Contract to Enhance Supply Chain Transparency

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded a contract to Exiger and MetalMiner to develop technology enhance supply chain resilience and national security.

The award is in line with the Open Price Exploration for National Security program, which aims to increase transparency in critical commodity pricing, supply demand and capacity forecasting, Exiger said.

Under the agreement, Exiger’s real-time supply chain data will be complemented by MetalMiner’s expertise in commodities markets and its pricing models and forecasting algorithms, providing critical supply chain visibility.

The 24-month OPEN program, conducted in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey, includes a seven-month base period with potential extensions.

Exiger CEO Brandon Daniels said the company will use its advanced artificial intelligence and computing capabilities to help DARPA navigate the complex markets of key minerals, such as base and rare earth metals, which are vital for U.S. defense.

Meanwhile, MetalMiner CEO Lisa Reisman expressed confidence in the partnership’s ability to drive stability and informed decision-making in the commodities market.
