FHWA to Explore AI, Blockchain Applications to Transportation

The Federal Highway Administration has launched a research program to explore how artificial intelligence and blockchain technology can improve transportation and highway engineering across the United States. According to an announcement, the agency is accepting research effort proposals focusing on three may topics, namely blockchain for highway transportation, artificial intelligence for highway transportation, and the incorporation of trashed plastic into asphalt cement for reduced waste. FHWA plans to award either contracts or cooperative agreements, Nextgov reported Thursday.
