GA-ASI to Deliver Gray Eagle 25M Units to Army National Guard
The Army National Guard has awarded General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. a contract to procure 12 Gray Eagle 25M unmanned aircraft systems for multi-domain operations.
GE 25M, a modernized variant of the Gray Eagle, features the new EagleEye multimode radar and electro-optical/infrared sensors and the capability to operate additional kinetic and non-kinetic payloads, GA-ASI said.
The Army National Guard will use the drone to enable better collaboration with newly formed Division Artillery Brigades and support homeland defense, disaster response and other domestic missions.
Procuring GE 25M will bring divisional reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition capability to the National Guard for the first time, according to the company.
Patrick Shortsleeve, GA-ASI vice president of Department of Defense strategic development, said “the aircraft excels as an enabler for Fires, Maneuver, Network, and Intelligence operations.”
The company performed the maiden flight of GE 25M on Dec. 5, 2023, after it was awarded a contract for a production-representative test version of the aircraft.
