GDIT Awarded $364M SOF IT Enterprise Contract From GSA
General Dynamics Information Technology is set to extend its digital enterprise services for Special Operations Forces under the terms of a potential five-year, $364M contract awarded by the General Services Administration Federal Systems Integration and Management Center.
The single-award SOF Information Technology Enterprise Contract J requires GDIT to design and implement technology capabilities in support of rapid data analysis and dissemination of mission-critical intelligence to combat emerging threats.
The business unit will be relying on enhanced enterprise information technology capabilities to ensure that SOF units around the world have access to the information and intelligence that they need, according to Leigh Palmer, senior vice president of the GDIT defense division.
Work for the SITEC J contract is expected to facilitate local and remote connections to a global network maintained by the Department of Defense. To do so, GDIT will tap into existing and new data centers, as well as new instances of cloud computing.
GDIT will also use a hybrid data storage approach and automated processes to allow real-time data consolidation, analysis and dissemination among SOF units.
Additionally, GDIT’s enterprise IT services are expected to provide SOF units with increased operations efficiency and flexibility.
The SITEC J contract builds on the business unit’s support to SOF units back in 2012, Palmer said.
GDIT is the IT service management arm of General Dynamics. The business unit offers cloud services, artificial intelligence solutions and cyber services to clients across the aviation, health, defense, space, civil, intelligence, homeland security and weather industries.
