Google Cloud Unveils New Technical Training Courses With Treasury Department, Other Partners

Google Cloud has launched new training courses and certifications on generative artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data analytics to help open job opportunities, with the Department of the Treasury as one of the initial employer-partners.

Karen Dahut, Google Public Sector CEO and a 2024 Wash100 award winner, wrote in a blog post that the trainings are free, hands-on and available on YouTube and Google Cloud Skills Boost. The courses contribute to the goals of President Joe Biden’s executive order on AI, Dahut added.

According to Todd Conklin, the department’s chief AI officer, the partnership is vital for training the department’s current and future workforce in new technologies offering the potential for better productivity, Google Cloud said.

Throughout the courses, learners will gain access to generative AI training tools, including Google’s Interview Warmup.

The training partnership with the Treasury Department exemplifies how skills-based technical courses can unlock “rewarding careers” while creating a cloud-savvy workforce, said Leigh Palmer, Google Public Sector vice president for delivery and operations.

The training courses are also open to nonprofit organizations and academic institutions. Google Cloud’s other employer-partners in the program, announced at the ASU + GSV Summit on Monday, include Rackspace, Jack Henry and Purdue Global.
