GovCon Veteran Ted Davies Shares Advice on Leadership
Altamira Technologies CEO Ted Davies, a veteran of the government contracting industry, said clear communication is important for effective leadership.
Ted Davies, a Potomac Officers Club member, said a great and authentic leader encourages his team to be as transparent as possible, building collaboration and consensus, Federal News Network reported Monday.
“I learned that if you pull people together you can get things done," Davies told host Aileen Black on Federal News Network's Leaders and Legends podcast.
He said every leader should not only draw lessons from the experience of others but also strive to develop their own style.
Davies has been serving as Altamira's CEO for six years and has been in the government contracting sector for more than 30.
Under his leadership, the Virginia technology company was repeatedly acclaimed for its working environment in multiple locations.
The Professional Services Council also recognized Altamira as Company of the Year in the $70 million to $300 million category at the 2017 Greater Washington GovCon Awards.
Executive Mosaic inducted Davies into the 2014 edition of Wash100 for his impact on the government contracting sector during his tenure as president of Unisys Federal Systems.
In his interview with Federal News Network, Davies advised new leaders to stay open to opportunities and to commit themselves to helping others.
“Go beyond what you are assigned and help others. You will learn from it and grow as a leader. Commit to cultivating new relationships and network,” Davies added.
