Gulf Island Shipyards Lands $130M Contract Mod for Rescue Ships, Unique Item Identification

Gulf Island Shipyards has landed a $129.9M Navy contract modification for two new towing, salvage and rescue ships and for unique item identification on the T-ATS 6-class program. Work will be done in Houma, Lousiana, and is expected to be finished by October 2022, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.

Gulf Island's contract also includes support services for special studies, engineering and industrial services, provisioned items orders, unique item identification and data rights license.

The obligated funds will be taken from the fiscal 2020 Navy shipbuilding and conversion funds. It will not expire within the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity.
