Hedera Adds Wipro to Governing Council

Wipro Limited has joined the governing council of Hedera Hashgraph, an enterprise-grade distributed ledger platform.

The council, which is designed to be a decentralized governance model for a public ledger, aims to have 39 members from different industries and geographies.

The addition of Wipro strengthens the council's status as an industry-leader for distributed ledger technology governance, Mance Harmon, CEO and co-founder of Hedera Hashgraph, said in a press release the company published Wednesday.

"Wipro joining the Hedera Governing Council highlights our commitment to developers and a rapidly emerging need for blockchain innovation," Harmon added.

According to the CEO, Wipro is a "prime example" of a multinational entity making the right moves in the future and adoption of DLT. Members of the governing council are responsible for approving updates to the Hedera platform codebase and setting policies for the nodes in Hedera's decentralized network.

Hedera's governance model protects users by eliminating the risk of forks, guaranteeing the integrity of the codebase, and making the source code open for review.
