Jacobs Lands $421M Kings Bay Base Operations Support I Contract
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast has awarded Jacobs Government Services a potential eight-year, $421 million contract to provide base operating support services at the Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia and outlying areas.
The Kings Bay Base Operations Support I contract requires Jacobs to offer intelligent asset management solutions to strengthen the base’s infrastructure reliability and ensure force protection, facility management, facility investment and utilities management.
Work for the contract will begin on June 1, Jacobs said Tuesday.
According to Steve Arnette, senior vice president of Jacobs’ critical mission solutions business unit, the contract serves as an opportunity for the company to leverage its partnership with the Navy and support the NAVFAC Southeast’s mission of providing the country’s warfighters with reliable facilities.
"Our team will apply innovative and agile technical and management approaches across all elements of the contract enterprise while ensuring a strong focus on safety," Arnette said.
The award builds on similar base support contracts secured by Jacobs. The Navy previously tapped the company to deliver intelligent asset management solutions in support of the Naval Station Mayport in Florida and the Naval Base Kitsap in Washington.
Jacobs also recently won a waterfront facilities inspection and assessment services contract with the Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center. The contract calls for a wide range of services, including underwater inspections and underwater geotechnical and above water surveying, for facilities outside the contiguous United States.
