Jim Rice, Vice President of the North American Business at Vantiq

Jim Rice is the vice president of the North American business at Vantiq, a software development firm located in Walnut Creek, California, that offers a low-code platform for applications that collect and process data in real time from edge devices. He also works with artificial intelligence, internet of things and 5G technologies. A member of the Potomac Officers Club, Rice joined the company in April as senior director of the public sector, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He was part of Red Hat as an account manager for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Before that, Rice briefly served as director of public sector sales at Lightbend, a San Francisco-based company that offers application development environments.

For more than three years, he handled special projects at TVAR Solutions. Rice previously held similar responsibilities as an area director at Atlantis Computing.

He managed application programming interfaces and Department of Defense accounts for CA Technologies and its subsidiary, Layer 7 Technologies. Rice was simultaneously Layer 7’s VP of federal prior to and following its acquisition by CA in 2013.

Earlier, he oversaw the federal businesses of GT Software, AmberPoint and Vitria, and worked in various roles at Forte Software, Parcplace Systems and Centerline Software.

Rice studied at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County.
