Klas Launches Tactical GPU for Edge Computing

Klas Government, a communications technology company, has launched an embedded graphics processing unit designed to analyze videos in real time for interface applications.

Based on Nvidia graphics technology, VoyagerGPU is a tactical unit also built for training artificial intelligence and machine learning models at the edge, Klas said Wednesday.

Klas Chief Revenue Officer Chris Ericksen, a member of the Potomac Officers Club, said VoyagerGPU is a key component of the company’s Voyager Tactical Cloud Platform, which the company described as a small form factor solution for bringing the benefits of cloud computing into the field.

“We believe future proofing tactical networks requires a modular and scalable range of network, compute and radio systems modules designed with a common form factor and able to seamlessly integrate with market-leading technologies,” Ericksen added.

The tactical unit was designed to address the size, weight, power and environmental limitations of prior GPUs when operating at the edge.

Klas added that VoyagerGPU meets Standardized A-Kit/Vehicle Envelope specifications to meet the interoperability standards of other tactical communications technologies in military vehicles.

VoyagerGPU comes with several professional-grade options for GPUs, central processing units, storage and internet connectivity solutions

The GPU options include Nvidia’s Pascal-based Tesla P6 graphics card and its Turing-based Quadro T1000, Quadro RTX 3000 and Quadro RTX 5000. For CPU, VoyagerGPU can come with Intel’s 8-core, 12-core or 16-core Xeon D processor or the 8-core Atom Denverton.

Klas is an information technology company that specializes in delivering deployable communications solutions for the government and the military.
