LANL, National Nuclear Security Administration Partner With SambaNova Systems to Improve AI Use in Scientific Projects
Purpose-built, full-stack artificial intelligence platform maker SambaNova Systems will provide generative AI and large language model capabilities to two units within the Department of Energy.
Product Senior Vice President Marshall Choy said the agreement extends SambaNova’s relationship with LANL, showcasing its performance advantage over GPU-based systems on challenging foundation models and deep learning workloads.
Under a strategic partnership, the National Nuclear Security Administration and Los Alamos National Laboratory can take advantage of SambaNova DataScale and SambaNova Suite to scale up the institutions’ use of AI workloads, advancing their generative AI and LLM capabilities, SambaNova said.
SambaNova has long partnered with the Energy Department. In May 2023, the company collaborated with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to integrate AI-based data processing architecture into the research organization’s computing system.
The AI solutions developer also delivered its DataScale system in November 2022 to Argonne National Laboratory, promoting the use of AI for large-scale data imaging and other scientific workloads.
