Leaders Learn Nuclear Deterrence Missions During Visit to Wyoming Air Base

Kristyn Jones, performing the duties of undersecretary of the U.S. Air Force, and other leaders recently learned more about the needs of the U.S. Air Force as it embarks on its modernization plan

In a visit to the F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming from Feb. 19 to 20, Jones visited the 20th Air Force headquarters for a mission brief before moving to the Alpha-01 missile alert facility at the military base. The visiting delegation also toured a launch facility and learned about the role played by the UH-1N Huey helicopter in supporting missions, the Air Force said.

Other officials who accompanied Jones include Peter Beshar, assistant secretary of the Air Force General Counsel, and Lt. Gen. Andrew Gebara, deputy chief of staff for strategic deterrence and nuclear integration.

The trip was not the first for Jones, a past Potomac Officers Club event speaker. In June 2023, she visited bases in Guam, Japan and Hawaii to talk with airmen and guardians from the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in an effort to better understand their needs and the challenges they are facing.
