Lockheed to Provide Trident II D5 Production, Support to Navy Under $601M Modification

Lockheed Martin will exercise an option under a previously awarded U.S. Navy contract for the production and deployed systems support of the Trident II D5 ballistic missile.

Work on the $601M sole-source, fixed-price-incentive, cost-plus-incentive-fee and cost-plus-fixed-fee modification will be performed in several locations and is expected to be completed by September 2024. The contract was awarded to Lockheed as it is the only responsible source capable of satisfying the Navy's requirements, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

Fiscal 2020 Navy weapons procurement funds in the amount of $499M, U.K. funds amounting to $93M, and incremental fiscal 2020 Navy research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $500K were obligated on the award, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
