Maxar Intelligence, Lockheed Martin Team Up to Improve F-35 Pilot Training

Maxar Intelligence and Lockheed Martin have signed a long-term agreement to improve the F-35 Full Mission Simulator, a critical training tool for F-35 pilots.

Through the agreement, the defense companies seek to streamline the integration of Maxar’s geospatial data into the simulator for a more realistic, immersive and accurate training simulations, Maxar Intelligence said.

By standardizing pricing, licensing and requirements for key Maxar products, including Precision3D and Dynamic basemaps, the collaboration aims to expedite procurement and enable F-35 operators to begin training exercises faster.

Maxar said its Precision3D data provides highly detailed and accurate 3D models of Earth, while Dynamic basemaps leverage cutting-edge image processing techniques to produce high-resolution, high-accuracy visuals tailored to specific customer needs.

According to Susanne Hake, general manager of Maxar’s U.S. government unit and a 4×24 member, Maxar’s geospatial data enhances the F-35 FMS experience by increasing pilot safety and improving mission readiness.
