Metron Partners With Cellula Robotics to Develop UUV Capabilities
Advanced research, scientific and software solutions provider Metron has entered into a partnership with Cellula Robotics to develop uncrewed underwater vehicle capabilities for advanced operations in dynamic environments.
Under the collaboration, Metron will integrate its Resilient Mission Autonomy portfolio into Cellula’s Solus and Imotus families of vehicles to deliver AI-powered situational awareness and execute real-time onboard mission adaptation, rerouting and replanning.
The two companies will also provide their solutions to national security stakeholders and commercial offshore energy customers, allowing high-value data to be collected and quality flagged for better operations planning and execution, Metron said.
Metron CEO Van Gurley, a 4×24 member, said the collaboration is a major milestone in advancing long-duration, multi-payload subsea capabilities.
The collaboration comes at a time when the federal government has been evaluating the capabilities of unmanned systems. The U.S. Army is among the components looking into unmanned systems to enhance its operations. In October 2023, the service branch disclosed plans for how it would use the technology to reduce the safety risks faced by soldiers.
