Mike Casey Confirmed as Director of National Counterintelligence and Security Center

The U.S. Senate has confirmed Mike Casey as director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center.

National Intelligence Director Avril Haines, a speaker at a past Potomac Officers Club event and a 2023 Wash100 awardee, congratulated Casey for his confirmation and said his integrity and deep national security expertise and knowledge will enable him to lead the intelligence community’s critical counterintelligence and security work.

The IC and its partners will benefit tremendously with Casey as the NCSC director amid an increasingly complex threat environment, Haines said in a statement published on the website of the DNI office.

The White House nominated Casey for the position in June after over two years of not having a Senate-confirmed director at NCSC. Michael Orlando, deputy director of NCSC, had served as acting director of the NCSC since January 2021 after William Evanina stepped down from the role.

Casey is currently a staff director for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, according to his LinkedIn profile. He previously served as a professional staff member on the House Armed Services Committee for nearly nine years and as a legislative director for former Rep. Vic Snyder.
