Mike Loomis to Lead New Nokia Business Dedicated to US Government

Finland-based network technology company Nokia has launched a subsidiary focused on serving the U.S. federal government.

Nokia Federal Solutions is expected to deliver products and services building on an existing portfolio that includes 5G, Internet protocol routing, optical networking and private wireless.

NFS will comprise experts in commercial communications technology and U.S. government requirements, Nokia said.

NFS added that its recent acquisition of tactical private wireless solutions provider Fenix Group will enhance the new subsidiary.

Mike Loomis, president of NFS and a 4×24 member, explained that Nokia aims to become a “trusted partner for 5G mission-ready solutions.” In addition to technology and expertise, the new subsidiary will provide a local presence needed to support federal agencies, Loomis said.

According to Tommi Uitto, Nokia’s president of mobile networks, NFS represents an important step toward developing the company’s defense business.

In 2022, Nokia opened a facility in Dallas to test cybersecurity and 5G network security resilience.
