NASA Deputy Administrator to Attend Northeast Ohio Aerospace Events
Pamela Melroy, NASA deputy administrator and a past Potomac Officers Club event speaker, is participating in events on Aug. 29 to promote new initiatives and developments in Northeast Ohio’s aerospace industry. She will be joined by Sen. Sherrod Brown and Rep. Marcy Kaptur.
Melroy, a 2023 Wash100 awardee, and Kaptur are scheduled to tour the Neil Armstrong Test Facility, a NASA center under construction in Sandusky, Ohio. James Kenyon, director of the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, is expected to accompany them.
The Neil Armstrong Test Facility will house the NASA Electric Aircraft Testbed and sites for developing hypersonics and in-space propulsion capabilities.
On the same day, Melroy, Kenyon and Brown will attend Glenn Research Center’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Aviation Day. Afterward, the three officials are slated to meet local business and community college leaders to discuss expanding Northeast Ohio’s aerospace industry, NASA said.
Aug. 30 will see Kaptur, Rep. Max Miller and NASA officials inaugurate the Aerospace Communications Facility, a new Glenn Research Center building for advanced radio frequency and optical communication technology research and development.
