ODNI Chief Welcomes Haugh’s Cyber Command, NSA Leadership Roles
National Intelligence Director Avril Haines, a speaker at a past Potomac Officers Club event and a 2023 Wash100 awardee, led the Intelligence Community in welcoming Air Force Lt. Gen. Timothy Haugh as concurrent head of the U.S. Cyber Command, the National Security Agency and the Central Security Service.
Congratulating Haugh on his Senate confirmation to the posts, Haines said he brings “extraordinary knowledge and experience” to the positions. According to her, Vaugh’s previous leadership roles in various intelligence and cyber agencies combine with his reputation as “a manager who cares about his workforce,” the Office of the Director for National Intelligence said.
Haines also thanked Haugh for taking the IC leadership roles, adding that she looks forward to working with him in his new assignments.
Previously, the ODNI head noted Vaughn’s years of experience as a career signals officer and CYBERCOM deputy commander make him “a natural choice” as President Joe Biden’s nominee for the positions.
In addition, Hanes acknowledged the services of the outgoing NSA Director, Gen. Paul Nakasone. Haines cited Nakasone’s contributions not only to the agency but also to the broader IC and U.S. national security.
