16th Air Force Allies With Poland Cyber Command to Address Cyberthreats
The 16th Air Force has partnered with the Poland Cyber Command, a Polish Armed Forces organization dedicated to advanced information and cryptographic capabilities.
Led by Lt. Gen. Kevin Kennedy, the U.S. Air Force unit is responsible for information warfare and cryptologic activities, DVIDS reported Friday.
The Poland Cyber Command and the 16th Air Force aim to identify and defeat cyberthreats in the information environment.
Kennedy said securing a digital environment with Poland will facilitate a “wider security cooperation enterprise” strategically and operationally. He explained that alliances with nations and partners are essential to success in the 21st century, adding that such relationships are built on information sharing.
Polish Maj. Gen. Karol Molenda, head of the Poland Cyber Command, described the collaboration with the 16th Air Force as essential to countering “increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.”
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Molenda’s organization has worked to characterize the tactics, techniques and procedures used by advanced persistent threat groups. The Poland Cyber Command is sharing such information with the 16th Air Force to strengthen information warfare resources.
