Federal Records Officers Network: Improved Collaboration Among Agencies Advances Record Management

The Federal Records Officers Network has called for greater collaboration among agencies to advance the automation of processes and manage records.

Ron Swecker, records and information program manager at the Securities and Exchange Commission and co-chairman of the Federal Records Officers Network, said improved collaboration comes at a time when managed information systems and e-government initiatives have significantly grown in the past years.

FRON, composed of over 350 members from a wide range of federal agencies and military branches, aims to advance records and information management by offering professionals training and mentorship opportunities, Federal News Network reported.

The group is also collaborating with the federal Chief Data Officers Council to advance electronic recordkeeping, including setting up metadata standards.

To improve their recod management operations, federal agencies have been working to embrace an appropriate technology. CGI is among the contractors helping agencies realize the goal. In January 2023, it started offering its electronic records management services after receiving authorization from the General Services Administration as part of the Multiple Award Schedule program.
