Accenture Federal Services Awarded $250M Department of Interior Contract for IT Support

The Department of Interior has awarded Accenture Federal Services a $250 million contract to assist the Bureau of Land Management in developing and maintaining a modern IT platform for the BLM’s mission-critical services.

The 10-year contract entails a mission services platform that will enhance the bureau’s data quality, employee productivity and citizen services, Accenture Federal said.

The project is expected to streamline the BLM’s management of 254 million acres of federal land and 700 million acres of subsurface minerals under its jurisdiction.

According to Kathryn Larson, Accenture Federal’s managing director and Department of the Interior client lead, the company will deliver agile application services to improve the BLM’s IT architecture and support its mission of sustaining federal lands for current and future generations.

Accenture Federal said it will draw on its expertise in Agile application development and user-centered design, among other fields, to fulfill its objectives.

The contract award follows Accenture Federal’s win of a five-year, $170 million contract with the Transportation Security Administration to provide agile development and support services for the Transportation Security Administration’s security operations.
