AFRL Holds Space Cyber Summit in New Mexico to Garner Public Support
The Air Force Research Laboratory held its third annual New Mexico Cyber and Space Summit in October 2023 to inform state officials and the public about space cyber threats and challenges, according to the event’s technical lead.
Joseph Trujillo, the AFRL Space Vehicles Directorate’s space cyber resiliency lead, explained that his organization seeks to attract public-sector support for laboratories in the state working to protect space assets from cyberattacks, the Air Force Materiel Command said Monday.
He added that space cyber represents a growth opportunity for New Mexico in the coming years.
The New Mexico Cyber and Space Summit convened state officials, subject matter experts and representatives from national laboratories and academic institutions. Partner organizations included Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratories, Sandia National Laboratories and the U.S. Space Operations Command.
State legislators took part in panel discussions to strengthen AFRL ties and connect with community members.
